Technology

Two girls sharing a computerEducational technology is an integral part of the teaching and learning process for all students. By infusing appropriate technologies into the instructional program across content areas, students are better prepared to be skilled and productive contributors to and users of information in a global society.

For students with emotional and learning difficulties, innovative techniques that make learning interactive, collaborative and customized are especially important. The flexibility and interactivity of technology provides new instructional possibilities to:

  • Support individualized and differentiated learning
  • Simulate real life experiences
  • Promote project-based and collaborative learning
  • Expand students’ and teachers’ access to current information, encourages discussion, creativity and ownership
  • Allow students to communicate globally
  • Support diverse learning styles
  • Expose students to an important set of tools that enable them to function effectively in today’s educational environments and in the workplace
