Classroom Rules and Behavior System

Star Papers

Students can earn up to three (3) stars per daily activity.  One star for being polite and friendly, one star for following directions, and one star for staying calm and safe.

Students who earn 80% of their stars will receive a smiley face - two possible for each day.  If a student earns two smiley faces during the day, they may choose a snack to take with them on the bus.

Stars should be given to students at the end of circle time, before lunch (smiley face given at this time), after construction toy and at the end of the day (smiley face given at this time).

If a student has had a restraint, they may NOT earn a smiley face for that part of the day.

It is important to have the students see the star papers while you are filling them out to give them a sense of responsibility for their behavior.

At the end of the day, the star papers can be thrown out after their percentages have been recorded on the weekly percentage chart.

 Breaks

Each student receives four (4) breaks during the day to help to improve self-monitoring skills.  Breaks are always timed, last one minute, and are taken at the students’ seat.  Once all breaks are used and they are still having issues with being a part of the class, then the teacher will supervise them in timeout.

 Big Toy

If a student earns eight (8) smiley faces over the course of the week-putting them in the green-they can choose a big toy
If a student has a restraint on big toy day, they may NOT get a big toy regardless of how many smiley faces earned.
