NOTES TO PARENTS

We have observed that students seem to work best when there is cooperation between home and school.  One of the best ways to achieve this cooperation is through the communication log that is sent home every night. The log informs parents of current events and progress.  The staff in the elementary classroom greatly appreciate input from the home. Sometimes a simple parent comment is all that is necessary to let staff know how things are going. Questions and comments are always welcome.

Goals for Students

The following is a simple list of classroom goals for lower elementary students.   These are helpful in coordinating consistency between school and home.

DO EVERYTHING WITH RESPECT
REMEMBER YOUR PERSONAL GOAL
HAVE A SAFE BODY AND USE SAFE WORDS
STAY ON TASK AND WORK COOPERATIVELY
FOLLOW DIRECTIONS

Homework
Students often express a great desire for help with homework. Homework is meant to be a simple review to reinforce daily activities.  It is not meant to cause unnecessary stress to children or their families.  Students are told that if they require additional help, they may bring in the uncompleted sections of the homework and ask the teacher for help in the morning.
