PARENT TIPS

Dear Parents:
We believe a partnership between the school and family is essential to your children’s growth and success. Thank you for your interest and we hope you find this helpful.

BEING RESPONSIBLE
Responsibility is a skill that your child will need their entire life.  We work on this skill consistently in school and would like to share with you some ways you can encourage your child to be responsible at home.

TIPS TO USE AT HOME
●  Look for chances to teach responsible behavior through everyday situations.
●  Show compassion and concern when others are sad or suffering.
●  Read stories together that teach valuable lessons.  For example, The Ugly   Duckling, talking about the importance of treating all people equally and with kindness.
●  Talk about serious decisions.  Help children realize the choices they make affect themselves and others.
●  Keep the lines of communication open with your child’s school and share the   lessons your child may be learning at home.
●  Talk about people in your child’s life or role models they may have who demonstrate good character.
●  Give them small chores or jobs to do at home.  Praise them when they do a good job.
●  Encourage your child to learn about and from others.
●  Let children know everyone has their own opinion and encourage them to see other points of view.
