UPPER ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

WAYS TO EARN POINTS

  1. Respect Others and Yourself

  2. Follow Directions

  3. Stay on Task--Participate in Class

  4. Remain in Class

  5. Mind Your Own Issues (MYOI)

POINTS
The day is divided into 10 different periods (every half hour), including lunch and recess. Each student’s goal is to a maximum of 50 points a day. Each student has an individual total number of points that needs to be earned each day. If the individual goal is met, is chosen from the prize bin. This reinforces positive behavior on a daily basis.

To reinforce behaviors on a weekly basis, the students can earn a Big Toy prize on Fridays by accumulating individual weekly goal points. Students also have the opportunity to earn bonus points throughout the day. This includes helping others without being asked, to being a role model for the rest of the class. The bonus points go toward computer time during recess or a trip to the computer lab after lunch.

MARBLE JAR
In addition to the daily point system, the classroom also has a caught being good jar. Whenever another adult walks into the room and gives the class a compliment on a job well done, a marble is put into a jar. When the jar is filled, the class will earn a pizza party, ice cream social, etc. This reinforces behaviors daily. The students are always anticipating when someone will walk into the room and see how well they are working.

SPACE
If students feel they need to take a break, they are able to take space outside of the room. They are allowed to take a walk or find a quiet place to relax for a few minutes.
